The system camera works on both desktop programs and metro application earlier. At some point in time it starts to work for desktop programs only to leave you to look for the cause of the problem. It happened after applying Windows Updates. That means the problem is coming from some drivers installed on your system automatically. These are video drivers from your Windows Update.

STEP 1: Press Windows + R key on your keyboard to open 'Run' dialog.

STEP 2: Type or copy and paste mmc devmgmt.msc into the 'Run' dialog and click 'OK' to continue.

STEP 3: At the 'Device Management' click on the little arrow pointing to 'Graphic adapters' to expand it.

STEP 4: Right-click on each of the graphic drivers and select 'Delete' to delete it.
